How to move around


The best way to reach the Montanhas Mágicas  and move around the territory is by car. If you can’t move around on your own car, we suggest you consult the following car rental website: 

The territory is reachable by the A32, A25, A24, A1 and A4 highways. From Lisbon the A1 will be the best option (about three hours trip) and from Porto the A32 (about one hour trip). To get to Castro Daire and São Pedro do Sul use the A25 and A24. 


You can travel to the Montanhas Mágicas by bus from several parts of the country, as well as from other European countries, by using the internal connections between the territory municipalities.

The nearest train stations to Montanhas Mágicas are: Ovar, Espinho, Aveiro, Porto (S. Bento), Mosteirô (Douro line).

  • Lusitânia Comboio Hotel (Lisboa/Madrid);
  • Celta (Porto Vigo).


The closest airport is the Aeroporto Francisco Sá Carneiro, in Oporto, but you can also travel from Lisbon and Faro, in the Algarve. When you get to the airport the best option is to rent a car. 

The other option is to check the routes, timetables and connections available by bus and train.
