De date ind\u00e9finie, on sait, tout au moins qu\u2019au d\u00e9but du XVIIe si\u00e8cle, il existait d\u00e9j\u00e0 un \u00e9difice \u00e0 cet endroit. La construction de l\u2019ermitage sur ce plateau est probablement due \u00e0 la recherche par la population de la protection divine de S\u00e3o Pedro, sur ce plateau montagneux o\u00f9 les cultures c\u00e9r\u00e9ali\u00e8res peuvent \u00eatre compromises par les conditions rigoureuses. Connue de longue date, la f\u00eate votive qui aujourd\u2019hui se tient \u00e0 S\u00e3o Pedro do Campo, tous les ans, le 29 juin, est certainement la f\u00eate la plus importante de la montagne Montemuro.
