They are the result from differential erosion that granite has suffered, leading to the formation of a network of polygonal cracks in the eroded rock parts, resembling to the naked eye the surface of a boroa, so the rock was named after that. In Landeira, erosion split in half a granite block forming two half boroas, an even side by side, almost asking for a grilled sardine. The erosion that produced this curious phenomenon is the result of large thermal amplitudes that are felt at this location.
