The first months of the year bring us irresistible dishes of lamprey and allis shad, a gastronomic tradition that goes back to the Middle Ages, when the lamprey was also used as payment of taxes to the feudal lords.<\/p>\n<p>Besides these, many other traditional and Portuguese dishes are served at the table of the local restaurants. Discover them and appreciate the irresistible aromas and flavors, in a calm and informal environment, served with a good \u201cVinho Verde\u201d or with a wine of the D\u00e3o\/Laf\u00f5es region and finish the meal with a delicious convent or regional sweet.<\/p>\n<p><b>Here you have some suggestions of typical dishes to taste in each of the municipalities<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Arouca<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Vitela Arouquesa Assada no Forno (Arouca roasted veal), Lamb Roasted in a Woodburning Oven, \u201cPosta de Arouquesa Grelhada na Brasa\u201d (Grilled slices of Arouquesa meat), Alvarenga Steaks, Cabidela (gibblets rice), Portuguese Stew, Chanfana of Boar (traditional stew), Trout with Pickled Sauce and Codfish with Broa (a type of cornbread).<\/p>\n<p><b>Castelo de Paiva<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Lamprey rice, Allis Shad, Arouquesa meat, roasted Lamb with Oven rice, Roasted Veal, Cozido \u00e0 Lavrador (stew), Steak in Onions from Santa Euf\u00e9mia, Cabidela (gibblets rice), Pataniscas de Bacalhau (Cod Fish Fried Cakes), Papas de Sarrabulho (Serrabulho porridge), roj\u00f5es (Pork Meat) and Smoked Meats.<\/p>\n<p><b>Castro Daire<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Montemuro Lamb, \u201cVitela Arouquesa assada no forno\u201d (Arouca roasted veal), Beans\u2019 rice with Salpic\u00e3o (type of sausage), Terresmada \u00e0 Montemuro (Cracklings), Carolas com Feij\u00e3o e Cabe\u00e7a de porco (Corn with Beans and Pig\u2019s Head \u2013 at carnival), Papas de Sarrabulho (Serrabulho porridge), Trout with Pickled Sauce from the Paiva river and Enchidos (sausages).<\/p>\n<p><b>Cinf\u00e3es<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPosta de Arouquesa Grelhada na Brasa\u201d (Grilled slices of Arouquesa meat, roasted Lamb with Oven rice, Arroz de Aba (rice with meat), roj\u00f5es \u00e0 moda de Cinf\u00e3es (Pork Meat), Paian\u00e7as com Carne de Porco (Millet with Pork Meat), Stuffed Rabbit, Papas de Perdiz (Quail Porridge), Pizza \u00e0 Lavrador and Lampreia \u00e0 Bordalesa (Lamprey with onions, vinegar and wine).<\/p>\n<p><b>S\u00e3o Pedro do Sul<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Roast Veal, Laf\u00f5es Lamb, Roj\u00f5es \u00e0 Moda de S. Pedro (Pork Meat), Arroz de Vinha D\u2019alhos (Rice Wine and Garlic), Arroz de Carqueja, Codfish with Broa (a type of corn bread) and Sopa de Feij\u00e3o com couve \u00e0 Lafonense (Bean Soup with cabbage).
