Junqueiro Boroas Stones

Landscape Highlights

| Geosites

The Junqueiro Boroas Stones, located in the Freita Mountain plateau, are a part of the Arouca Geopark geosites network. This phenomenon is an excellent example of granitic morphology, especially in polygonal cracking in granitic rocks, forming a network of polygons in the rock, resembling the surface of a Portuguese corn bread. Its origin is related to a set of complex processes related to imbalances on the rock surface.
