Framed by the Mountains of Arada and Montemuro, the Carvalhal Thermal Waters are located about 500m above sea level, between the Paiva and Vouga watersheds. The therapeutic properties of its waters are known since Romans times, but their exploitation for medicinal purposes only began in the early twentieth century. These sulfur waters with a high pH (9.3) have therapeutic characteristics for skin, musculoskeletal, digestive, respiratory and otolaryngology diseases. The uptake of water is carried out at about 44.4 °C, through a vertical and 62 meters deep hole. In the classic hydrotherapy area it offers a wide range of treatments, such as massages, whirlpools, showers, bubble baths, shortwave and aerosols. In the area of wellness treatments it appeals to relaxation and the perfect harmony between body and mind.
