The Sobrado Marmoiral, also called Marmoiral da Boavista, is one of the most unique Medieval marmoreals of our country. Its construction dates back to the second half of the 12th century, and its type is included in a transition period between the shallow grave with a funerary stele and the late Romanesque commemorative achievements. This is a very unique patrimonial typology with very few existing samples, which gives it a unique place in our heritage.Traditionally associated with Queen Santa Mafalda’s - daughter of King Sancho I and granddaughter of King Afonso Henriques - body transporting to the Arouca Convent, where she was buried, this unique monument is part of the 58 monuments network belonging to the Romanesque Route. Next to it you can admire the Portal of Quinta da Boavista, with an eclectic residential architecture.
